Figure Painting: The first goal of the class is to improve the student's knowledge of the visual nature of the figure by using its structural and anatomical qualities. The second goal is to translate these improved visual concepts into more accurate and expressive painting. Painting the figure or painting in general is an intellectual activity. If the student does not paint from their visual concepts,i.e. volumemeteric shapes, but relies on their visual response alone the painting will lack creative expressiveness and visual energy so the goal of this workshop is to strive to paint past the outline. |
